After Shave Reviews

Commonly associated with their refreshing aromatic scents and their zesty, yet refreshing sting, After Shaves are a ‘post requisite to a proper shave’. Many men and women find their scents attractive and many dermatologists appreciate how they heal, seal, and moisturize your newly exposed skin.

There are two common philosophies for post shave treatments, and therefore three categories of After Shaves.  Wait, three? Yeah, the combination of the two, as well.

The first is moisturize.  Many post shave moisturizers, also referred to as balms, are natural products containing plant and fruit extracts, such as aloe. These products are designed to rejuvenate your freshly exposed layer of skin.  Many of these moisturizing products will also protect you from wind and sun exposure.

After Shaves are also viewed as a first aid procedure, this philosophy is more traditional.  During the process of shaving you will remove the top most layer of your skin, exposing a fresh layer of skin. Many people believe it should be treated as an open wound and, like a cut, an astringent or alcohol should be applied to prevent infection and help it heal.

Utilizing the philosophies above, companies have recently developed a hybrid, including astringents, moisturizers, and protective elements in their products.  Combining the best of both worlds seems to be a developing trend, and for good reason. There’s a tally point for the ‘fence sitter.’

Whatever your preference, using an After Shave is a wise decision. They aid in healing cuts, preventing infection, and nourishing your skin, and ultimately keeping your skin healthy.
